Jerry built this racing car before he was old enough to drive.
Utica-Rome. Although Jerry Cook was actually a car-builder and -owner before he was old enough to drive, this was one of the first Sportsman class cars he raced. The starter is former driver Cliff Kotary, who won the NYS Fairgrounds Championship race 6 times.
Ed’s Mills and Welch #79 is just behind Jerry Cook’s #38. This photo was taken at Malta, most probably at the 1969 All-Star race there.

1972 – Final NASCAR Modified points. Jerry Cook was champion but won no races. Ed finished 11th in Modified points, although he won at least 12 races.
